Wearing Two Hats: Effective Management Committee Focus

Running a club involves plenty of hats to wear, and for those on the Management Committee, there are two particularly important ones!
Following on from discussions, including insights from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) course, it's clear that committees balance a dual role:
To make sure both of these crucial areas get the attention they deserve, a practical approach suggested is to divide your committee meeting time into two distinct sections. Dedicate specific time to procedural matters and separate time for strategic discussions.
Why do this? It helps the committee maintain a clear focus, prevents immediate operational issues from completely overshadowing important future planning, and ensures you're actively managing both the present needs and the long-term vision of your club.
Considering this approach for your next committee meeting could be a great way to enhance effectiveness and keep everyone aligned!
